The purpose of the National Minority AETC is to build capacity for HIV care and training among minority health care professionals and health care professionals serving communities of color. This is achieved through a network of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), Tribal Colleges (TCs) and their affiliates, Community Based Organizations (CBOs), national organizations that represent minority health care professionals, and the regional AETCs (AIDS Education and Training Centers).
The NMAETC focuses on clinical training, adherence, cultural competency, management of HIV complications, antiretroviral management issues that affect hard to reach populations and advances in drug therapy and treatment within the context of clinical care. NMAETC’s mission is to decrease the disparities in the health outcomes of minority patients with HIV/AIDS by influencing health care professionals.
